HealthCPR Releases Survey Results

In January 2011, HealthCPR launched their inaugural social marketing campaign that encouraged Albertan's to complete the web-based Mental Health in Alberta Survey. The survey was designed using the Mental Health Commission of Canada's seven goals for a transformed mental health system. The campaign concluded in May 2011 after collecting 114 surveys. The findings suggest a significant problem in access to mental health care in Alberta.

HealthCPR Members meet Margaret Trudeau

On Wednesday, June 22, 2011 HealthCPR members had the privilege of meeting Margaret Trudeau, the former wife of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada. Margaret was wrapping up her book tour for her latest book, Changing my Mind, a testimony to the struggles of bipolar disorder. Margaret’s presentation was a touching recollection of the struggles she endured being misdiagnosed and mistreated. Aware that there was more to her mental illness than just depression, Margaret continued to advocate for herself until she was properly diagnosed and cared for. Now, part of her journey with this book tour is to increase awareness of the struggles one goes through and reduce the stigmatization against individuals with a mental illness.
